Identifying the serial numbers of Exadata and its components

You can use the following commands to identify the serial numbers of Exadata and its components.

Exadata Rack

It can be run on any node.

ipmitool sunoem cli "show /SP system_identifier"

Compute Node

It must be run on any of compute node.

dmidecode -s system-serial-number

Cell Node

It must be run on any of cell node.

dmidecode -s system-serial-number

InfiniBand Switch

When a connection is established to the relevant switch via SSH with root privileges and the command is executed, the information in the Sun_Serial_Number field is the serial number.

showfruinfo

Ethernet Switch

You must first connect to the relevant switch via SSH as an administrator and run the “enable” command. Afterwards, the serial number can be determined using the “show module” command.

PDU

When connecting to all PDUs in the Exadata cabinet via the web interface, the serial number is displayed on the screen. Connection can be established as follows. Login must be done with the root user.

You can also find the serial numbers of cell nodes, compute nodes, and all components within them using the following command. The command must be run as root.

/opt/oracle.SupportTools/CheckHWnFWProfile -S

When the command is executed, it will produce the following output.
